SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Mavericks were picked sixth in the 2021 Summit League Women's Tennis Preseason Poll, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
"The Summit League is a very deep conference this year and it's not surprise how close some of the votes turned out," said head coach Adam Summitt. "I just hope all teams can stay healthy and have a chance to play out a full season. After a record-setting season last year, we hope to continue the momentum and prove some people wrong."
Freshman Colby Kelley was selected to the Summit League Women's Tennis Preseason Athletes to Watch List. The Liberty, Mo., native posted a 27-2 singles record as a senior while helping her team capture its seventh straight district championship and won the Class 2 Missouri Singles State Championship.
The Mavericks begin the 2021 season against Eastern Illinois and Illinois State on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 22-23 in Bloomington, Ill.
