Mavericks Close Fall Season at Colorado State

Omaha, Neb.- The Mavericks travel to Fort Collins, Colorado for the Wollenberg-Ptarmigan Classic at Colorado State Monday and Tuesday, October 18-19.

The event features three rounds of golf at Ptarmigan Country Club, beginning with a shotgun start both days at 9 a.m. MDT, 10 a.m. Central. 15 teams make up the field hosted by Colorado State, including Boise State, Cal Poly, UC Riverside, Denver, Idaho, Incarnate Word, Montana State, Nevada, Northern Colorado, South Dakota, Tarleton, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, and Wyoming.

The Mavericks close the fall season with this event, their third tournament in as many weeks. Last Monday and Tuesday at the Creighton Classic the Mavericks recorded their best result of the fall, finishing in a tie for 2nd place and shooting a team score of 930.

Off the heels of a 5th place finish at the Stampede, Jinna Boonbumroongsuk matched her career best with a total score of 226 at the Creighton Classic. The sophomore placed 3rd on the leaderboard, her first top-3 finish as a Maverick.

At the Classic, Mandi Granato finished with a total score of 233. The junior ended the invite in a tie for 7th place, her 5th top-ten finish for Omaha.

Freshman Sydney Taake finished the last invite in 9th place on the leaderboard after shooting a score of 234. Mika Miyata was right behind her with a score of 237, the junior placing 12th overall.

Making her first appearance in the lineup for Omaha, Emma Kirvan shot a total score of 250. The freshman ended the invite in 17th place.

Golfing individually at the Creighton Classic;

Senior Zora Gittens finished the tournament with a total score of 254, placing 2nd among individual golfers.

Freshman Maddie Simon shot a two-day total of 255, finishing right behind Gittens in 3rd among individuals.

Junior Izzi Puk ended the invite with a score of 258, in 4th place individually behind Simon and Gittens.

Senior Cassidy Ulrich finished with a total score of 268, placing 8th among individual golfers.

The Wollenberg-Ptarmigan Classic at Colorado State is the last invite of the fall season for Omaha. The spring season tees off with the Mavericks traveling to Corpus Christi February 21-22 for the Islander Classic hosted by Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
