Softball Hosts Creighton For Inaugural Game at Connie Claussen Field

OMAHA, Neb. ā Omaha softball will play Creighton Wednesday afternoon for its inaugural game at Connie Claussen Field at 4 p.m. Wednesday's game marks the first time the Mavericks have taken their home turf in 682 days, and the first time they'll have a home on campus grounds. Both Omaha and Creighton are looking to rebound from losses and pick up a win in the meeting.

Scouting Creighton
Creighton is 6-5 heading into the mid-week meeting at Connie Claussen Field. The Bluejays have won three of their last five games. Creighton opened Big East play last weekend with a three-game series vs. Providence. The Bluejays wen 2-1 with both wins being shutouts. Creighton picked up a non-conference 8-2 win over UIC and fell to Southern Illinois 5-3.Ā
Prior to the season, Creighton was selected to finish fifth in the Big East Preseason Poll. After their conference opener, the Bluejays are tied for second in the standings with Butler. DePaul leads the league sitting as the only undefeated team at 3-0.

The Mavericks will host the Connie Claussen Classic March 19-21. The Mavericks will play Northern Colorado three times over the weekend. Friday's contest is set for 4 p.m., Saturday's for 3 p.m., and Sunday's for 12 p.m.

- Kailey Wilson is batting .368 this season. She has 14 hits, including two doubles and three homers. She leads the team with 12 RBI this year.
- Mikay Santa Cruz is 2-1 in the circle. She's pitched two complete games over four appearances. Santa Cruz leads the team wih a 2.67 ERA, and she has also tallied 15 strikeouts.Ā
- Park Boyd has made six starts and eight appearances in the circle for Creighton. Boy has a .416 ERA and leads the Bluejays with 29 strikeouts. Boyd is 4-4 this season.
