NEWTON, Kan. – The Omaha women's golf team is in seventh place after the first 18 holes of the Summit League Championship.
The Mavericks fired a team score of 323 in the first round at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course, putting them four strokes behind North Dakota State. Denver leads the championship with a total of 289. North Dakota and South Dakota are tied for second at 304.
Jinna Boonbumroongsuk leads the Mavericks in scoring and is tied for fifth overall in the field of 40 golfers with an opening round of 75, three over par.
Hannah Hunke shot an 82 in round one to put her in a tie for 28th while Mandi Granato and Mika Miyata both posted cards of 83 to sit in a tie for 31st.
Zora Gittens rounded out the team scoring with an opening-round total of 85, putting her 37th.
The second round begins at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
