Omaha returns to conference play as the Mavericks host Summit League foe Western Illinois for a three-game series at Tal Anderson Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night while the series finale is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Around the Horn

The Mavericks are 15-16 (7-5 Summit League) on the season after sweeping BYU two weeks ago.
Chris Esposito leads Omaha at the plate this season, hitting .351 with four doubles, three triples, six homers, 30 RBI and 23 runs.
Mike Boeve is hitting .313 with 12 doubles and 16 RBI, followed by Brett Bonar with six doubles and two homers while hitting .289 at the plate.
Bonar is the 28^th toughest batter to strike out in Division I this season with an 11.4 at-bats per strikeout average.
Keil Krumwiede is four walks away from the century mark and currently ranks sixth all-time in program history with 96 walks in his career as a Maverick.
Joey Machado is 3-3 on the season with a 3.00 ERA and 46 strikeouts while Richie Holetz is 2-2 in nine starts with a 3.51 ERA and team-high 48 strikeouts.
Mark Timmins is 3-2 on the season after tossing a complete-game in the series finale vs. BYU while Josiah Scott has a record of 3-1 with a save in nine relief appearances.
As a team, Omaha is hitting .263 with 169 runs, 266 hits, 55 doubles, nine triples and 23 home runs this season.
The Maverick pitching staff has a combined ERA of 5.81 while striking out 247 batters in 263.1 innings of work.

Scouting the Western Illinois Leathernecks
The Western Illinois Leathernecks enter this weekend's series with a 9-20 overall record and 5-11 mark in Summit League play after being swept at North Dakota State three weeks ago. Trenton Bauer leads Western Illinois at the plate with seven doubles and 20 RBI while hitting .313 in 29 starts. Kevin Raisbeck has started all 29 games while hitting .313 with three doubles, 19 runs and 11 stolen bases.

Jake Warkentein is 0-3 on the mound in seven starts on the season with a 4.15 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 39 innings. Chandler Fochs is 2-4 with a 5.62 ERA and 26 strikeouts in seven starts on the mound this season.

As a team, the Leathernecks are hitting .234 with 123 runs, 221 hits, 36 doubles, two triples and three homers in 29 games. The Western Illinois pitching staff has a combined ERA of 5.76 with 191 strikeouts while allowing 198 runs, 157 earned, on 272 hits in 245.1 innings.

Head coach Andy Pascoe is in his second season at Western Illinois and has a record of 9-33 with the Leathernecks.
