OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha baseball team suffered a 3-1 setback vs. second-seeded North Dakota State on opening day of the Summit League Baseball Championship at Tal Anderson Field on Thursday night.

The loss drops the Mavericks to 22-24 on the year while the Bison improve to 39-16.

How it Happened

A pair of walks followed by an RBI single and an RBI groundout gave the Bison a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
NDSU extended the lead to 3-0 with a solo home run in the fourth.
Brett Bonar lifted a solo shot down the right field line to plate Omaha's lone run of the game and trim the deficit to 3-1.
The Mavericks were retired in order in the top of the ninth to clinch the NDSU victory.

Inside the Box Score

Mike Boeve led the Mavericks at the plate with two hits.
Bonar had a solo home run while Chris Esposito also had a hit.
Richie Holetz pitched a complete-game, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out five Bison.
