OMAHA, Neb. – Head women's soccer coach Tim Walters announced the 2021 schedule Thursday morning. The 20-game fall slate is highlighted by one exhibition and eight regular season matches at Caniglia Field.
"I think we have a very challenging schedule in a lot of ways this year," said Walters. "It's going to be great to play some non-conference games for the first time in a while and we are excited to challenge ourselves against a number of very good opponents on the road to help us prepare for conference play. We also play some very good teams at home at Caniglia this fall. I know a lot of players will circle some of the bigger games on the schedule, but I'm looking forward to kick off conference play against the defending champs at home on Oct. 1 followed by a full month of conference play in October."
Omaha will play Iowa State on Aug. 7 for its first of two exhibition matches. The Mavericks will then cross the state line and take on Drake on Aug. 11.
The team's home and regular season opener is scheduled for Aug. 19 vs. Northern Iowa at 7 p.m.
Following the opener, the Mavericks will take a three-game road trip. First on the slate is Kansas State on Aug. 22. Omaha will then travel west and take on Wyoming on August 26 before returning to Nebraska for a match vs. the Huskers on Sept. 2.
The Mavericks return home for a pair of non-conference contests vs. Northern Colorado on Sept. 5 and Minnesota on Sept. 9.
Omaha closes the non-conference portion of its schedule with a three-game trip to Missouri State, Oklahoma State, and Gonzaga on Sept. 12, 17, and 25, respectively.
Following the trip, the Mavericks open Summit League play with Denver at Caniglia Field on Oct. 1. They will then hit the road to play at Western Illinois and St. Thomas on Oct 8 and 10. Omaha will also play road matches at North Dakota State on Oct. 22 and North Dakota on Oct. 24.
In addition to Denver, the Mavericks will host Oral Roberts (Oct. 15), Kansas City (Oct. 17), South Dakota State (Oct. 29), and South Dakota (Oct. 31). Omaha will honor its seniors for Senior Day vs. South Dakota.
The Summit League Championships will be hosted by Denver in Denver, Colorado this fall. Semifinals kick off on Nov. 4 with the championship falling on Nov. 6.
