
Mavericks In Third After Two Rounds at Oak Hills

Omaha, Neb.- The Omaha women's golf team is in third place after two rounds at the Big O Classic on Monday.
The Mavericks posted a team score of 308 in the first round of golf at Oak Hills Country Club, adding 311 in the second for a day-one total of 619. Omaha sits six strokes behind Wichita State, who owns second place with 613. Creighton leads the co-hosted event with a team score of 610. The Mavericks have five players within six strokes of each other after the first day.
Sydney Taake leads the Mavericks with a day one total of 153. The sophomore shares eighth place after scoring 76 (+4) and 77 (+5) in the first two rounds. One stroke behind Taake, and currently tied for 11th place is Mika Miyata. The junior matched scores of 77 (+5) in rounds one and two to finish the day with a total score of 154.
A stroke behind Miyata is Nicole Hansen, who totaled 155 through two rounds. Hansen posted a 78 (+6) in the first round, improving by one stroke to 77 (+5) in the second to share 14th place among all competitors. Two strokes behind Hansen is Macarena Garcia. The freshman from Salamanca, Spain is the fourth Maverick in the top-20 after scoring a 77 (+5) in round one and an 80 in round two. Two strokes behind Garcia and rounding out the top-five is Emily Karmazin. The freshman shares 24th place after posting a 79 and 80 in the first two rounds on Monday.
Golfing individually, Maddie Simon and Emma Kirvan scored 165 and 170, respectively. Simon shares 35th place, and Kirvan holds 53rd overall.
