
Mavericks Earn Third At Big O Classic

Omaha, Neb.- The Omaha women's golf team finishes the Big O Classic in third place after the final round on Tuesday.Â
The Mavericks recorded a team score of 315 to finish with a total of 934. Omaha falls six strokes behind second-place Creighton, and eight strokes behind the champion, Wichita State.Â
Sydney Taake finished with a three-round total of 228, good for fourth place on the leaderboard. Taake posted a 75 (+3) in the final round to help solidify her top-10 finish.Â
Macarena Garcia notched a 77 (+5) in the third round to finish in 11th place. The freshman ended the event with a total score of 234. Nicole Hansen ended three strokes behind Garcia and in 18th place. Hansen shot an 82 to finish with a three-round score of 237.Â
Emily Karmazin and Mika Miyata finished with scores of 240 and 241, respectively. Karmazin posted an 81 in the last round on Tuesday to finish in 18th place. Miyata scored an 87 to share 27th place overall.Â
Golfing individually, Emma Kirvan and Maddie Simon ended with scores of 252 and 253. Kirvan posted an 82 in the final round to take 46th place, and Simon used an 88 to earn 48th place.Â
The Mavericks head to Arkansas State next week for the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11. Follow the action with live scoring, available at Omavs.com.Â
