Mavericks Climb Four Spots in Round Two

Hollister, Mo.- The Omaha women's golf team climbed from ninth to fifth place in round two of the Ozarks National Invitational hosted by Missouri State on Tuesday.Â
After recording 316 in the first round, the Mavericks used a team score of 293 to move ahead of four teams and into fifth place with a total of 609. Omaha sits one stroke behind Wichita State, who holds fourth place with a total of 608 through two rounds. The Mavericks are three strokes away from the podium, trailing South Dakota, who owns third place with a total of 606.Â
Nicole Hansen improved by 10 strokes from the first round to the second. The graduate student posted a 70 (+2) in round two, matching the second-best round score in program history. Hansen used two birdies and an eagle on hole five to jump from 42nd place and into the top-10. Hansen shares ninth place heading into the final round on Wednesday.Â
Macarena Garcia and Sydney Taake end round two with two-day totals of 152 and 154, respectively. Garcia used three second-round birdies to record her best score of the season with a 71 (-1). She moves from 47th place and into the top-20, currently sharing 14th place. Sydney Taake backed up her best round of the year with an 83 in round two. The sophomore holds 21st place overall.Â
Emily Karmazin and Mika Miyata improved from the first round. Karmazin went from an 84 in the first round to a 75 (+3) in the second for a two-round total of 159. Miyata posted an 85 in round one but responded with a 77 (+5) in round two for a total of 162. Karmazin is tied for 49th, and Miyata shares 57th place going into the final round.Â
