Mavericks Finish Fall Season in Fourth Place at Ozarks

Hollister, Mo.- The Omaha women's golf team finished the fall season in fourth place at the Ozarks National Invitational hosted by Missouri State on Wednesday.
The Mavericks jockeyed for position at the top of the table throughout the third round. They finished with a score of 302, giving Omaha a three-round total of 911 and a fourth-place finish. They fell two strokes behind Wichita State, who took third place with a total score of 909. Murray State and South Dakota pulled ahead late. The Racers earned second place with a total of 906, and the Coyotes won the event with a score of 905.
Macarena Garcia earned her first top-10 finish as a Maverick. The freshman recorded a score of 74 (+2) in the final round to finish with a three-round total of 226. The Salamanca, Spain native used six birdies to earn her lowest 54-hole score of the season.
Sydney Taake and Nicole Hansen posted total scores of 228 to share 12th place overall. Hansen used three birdies to notch a 78 (+6) in round three for her second top-20 finish of the fall. Taake sank four birdies en route to a 73 (+1) for her third top-20 finish of the year.
Emily Karmazin and Mika Miyata finished with total scores of 236 and 242, respectively. Karmazin ended her first fall season with a 77 (+5) in the final round to take 39th place. Miyata recorded an 80 in the last round to finish in 57th place.
In the 2021-22 season, the Mavericks recorded the best team scoring average in program history at 315.4 in 27 rounds. Through 15 rounds in the fall, Omaha is outpacing last year with a team-average of 306.2. The Mavericks will return to action in the spring with their sights set on breaking the record once again.
