The Basics
The Omaha men's basketball team returns to Baxter Arena after a seven-game hiatus that took the Mavericks across the country. Omaha looks to snap a four-game skid vs. the Warriors before the conference season tips off next week. The game is scheduled for a 12:05 p.m. tipoff and will be the annual kids game.

• Omaha is coming off a seven-game road trip where the Mavericks went 2-5. The two wins came in the Emerald Coast Classic over the Thanksgiving break. The Mavericks won the consolation championships after beating ULM and Southern.
• The Mavericks dropped five games to Iowa, Mississippi State, North Texas, Drake, and Montana State.
• Against the Bobcats, Jaeden Marshall had a solid game off the bench for Omaha. He scored 14 points and was one of two players in double-figures. Marquel Sutton added 10 points.

• For the first time all season, six Mavericks were in double-figures in the 88-78 win vs. Southern. Luke Jungers led Omaha off the bench with a career-high 17 points. He hit 3-of-5 from three-point range.
• All-five starters were in double-figures for the first time. Sutton led with 15 points, White tallied 14, Fidler had 13, and Marshall and Dylan Brougham each scored 11.
• As a unit, the Mavericks are shooting 77.8 percent from the line this season, which is the second-best free throw percentage in the Summit League.
• La'Mel Robinson is no longer on the 2022-23 roster.
• Head coach Chris Crutchfield has a 13-17 overall coaching record. It marks his second season as a head coach and first with the Mavericks.
Scouting the Midland Warriors
Midland is 4-9 overall and 0-7 in conference to start its season. Five of those seven losses were competitive battles within 10-point margins. The Warriors picked up a win vs. Bellevue back on Nov. 12, 66-62. They also have wins vs. Mayville State, Langston, York, and Presentation. Midland is averaging over 70 points per game on 42 percent from the field.
Freshman guard Jake Orr leads the Warriors with 12.1 points per game. He has started in nine games and is shooting nearly 49 percent from the field this season. He opened the year on a three-game double-figure scoring streak, which included a career-high 22 points vs. York. He was 7-of-15 from the field and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe. Orr put up 14 points, 15 points, and 19 points in the last three games. His 19 points at Briar Cliff came on a 9-of-15 outing, which included one three.
Tyler Erwin returns to Baxter arena in his first season at the helm of Midland. Erwin previously served as an assistant for the Mavericks over the last 13 seasons. Erwin was a four-year letter winner with the Warriors from 1996-2000.
