
Mavericks Sixth After Day One At HBU

Spring, Texas- The Omaha men's golf team currently holds a share of sixth place at the Colin Montgomerie-HBU Husky Invitational.
Through two rounds of golf Monday, the Mavericks have a total score of 607. Scoring 312 in the first round, Omaha answered with the second-best team score of the second round, shooting 295 in round two. The Mavericks are trending in the right direction, as all five golfers improved on their first-round scores in the second.
Kurtis Rodriguez shot 76(+4) in round one, where he sank three birdies. The freshman shot an even 72 in round two for a day-one total of 148(+4). He currently leads the Mavericks and shares 11th place on the leaderboard.
Carter Doose is second on the team with a total score of 151(+7). The sophomore scored 77(+5) and 74(+2) in rounds one and two, respectively, earning a share of 18th place overall.
Mathew Halvorson used a round-one eagle on hole 16 for a two-round total of 155(+11). The senior shot 79(+7) and 74(+2) on the day and is tied for 41st.
Josh Peters is tied with Halvorson in 41st place after a day-one score of 155(+11). The Junior sank an eagle on the second hole of round two after bogeying the same hole in round one. After an 82 in the first round, Peters went one-over in the second, scoring 73.
Christopher Atkinson holds 47th after scoring 156(+12) on Monday. The freshman shot an 80 in round one but improved to a 76(+4) in round two.
