Absisan Named Athlete of the Week

After leading Omaha to a key win in North Dakota, Ines Absisan has been named the Summit League Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week.
The senior paced the Mavericks to a 4-3 victory over the Fighting Hawks by winning both her singles and doubles matches. The win pushed Omaha past UND into fourth place – the final spot for the upcoming league championships – in the league standings with one weekend remaining in the regular season.
Absisan teamed up with Madison Gallegos for a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles as the Mavericks claimed that team point and then won her No. 3 singles match in a third-set tiebreaker.
Omaha can secure its spot in the league championships with a win this weekend. The Mavericks play host to Western Illinois on Friday and then face South Dakota in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Sunday.
