OMAHA, Neb - The Mavericks took control of Tuesday's game early with a four-run first inning on their way to a 9-3 win over the Bluejays. With the win, Omaha matched last season's win total with nine games left in the regular season.

The Mavericks improve to 20-12 overall.

How It Happened

Omaha's bats exploded in the first allowing the Mavericks to take an early lead in Tuesday's meeting. Izzy Eltze led off the game with a double to center field. Omaha then loaded the bases with an infield single for Lynsey Tucker and a Jamie White walk.
Eltze and Tucker scored on a base hit from Rachel Weber for a 2-0 lead. White crossed home on a fielding error, and Sydney Ross plated Weber for the final run of the inning. Mavericks led 4-0 at the middle of one.
Tucker hit a stand-up double in the second scoring Eltze for the fifth run. Omaha would get another run on White's single through the left side.
The Bluejays avoided a shutout in the bottom of the second. Mills go ahold of a pitch for a solo homer to center. Kamryn Meyer struck out the next three batters to get out of the inning with a five-run lead.
Ross recorded her second RBI of the game with a sac-fly in the third inning that scored Jaelle Johnson for the seventh run.
The Bluejays cut into the lead with a two-run bomb in the bottom of the fourth. Wilson hit her eighth homer cutting the Omaha lead to four.
Tucker made it 8-3 in the top of the sixth after getting hit by a pitch. She stole her way to third base and capitalized on a throwing error by the Creighton catcher to tally the run.
J. Johnson added one more run to the board in the top of the seventh. She hit a solo homer to left field. Mavericks went on to win 9-3.

Inside the Box Score

Meyer pitched the first three innings. She allowed only one hit with no walks. She retired six batters.
Sydney Hampton came in for relief at the start of the fourth. She finished with a strikeout and got the win in the circle.
Sydney Nuismer pitched the final two innings.
Omaha finished with 10 hits on the day.
Eltze and Johnson each recorded two.
Both of J. Johnson's were multi-base hits, including her first career homer.
Tucker scored three of the nine runs.
With the win, the Mavericks matched last season's win total.
