Omaha, Neb.-- Midfielder Grace Ostergaard has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced on Monday, Oct. 16.
The senior from Omaha had two assists in a span of five minutes, helping the Mavericks to a 3-2 victory over Kansas City on Sunday. In the 85th minute, Ostergaard forced a turnover in the attacking third and fed a pass to Grace Bartlam. Bartlam found Cece Behrens, who headed the ball into the net to tie the game at 2-2. Then in the 90th minute, Sophia Green threw the ball into the box with 23 seconds on the clock, but it was intercepted by the Roos' defense. Ostergaard came up with another turnover and found Marissa Gohr, who put it past the Kansas City keeper with just 19 seconds remaining to seal a 3-2 victory. Grace now has three assists this season after the first multi-assist game of her career.
It is the first weekly award of Ostergaard's career at Omaha. The Millard West alum has been tabbed to the All-Summit Second Team in each of the past three seasons.
Grace is the fifth Maverick to earn a peak performer of the week award from the Summit League this season. She joins Sophia Green who was tabbed Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, as well as both Omaha goalkeepers, Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen and Emma Konsmo, and Grace Crockett, who were named Defensive Peak Performers of the Week earlier this season.
Ostergaard and the Mavericks have two games left in the regular season. While the postponed match at South Dakota State has not been rescheduled yet, Omaha's next match is set for Sunday, Oct. 22 in St. Paul, Minnesota at St. Thomas. Kickoff between the Mavericks and Tommies is scheduled for 1 p.m.
