Omaha, Neb.-- Goalkeeper Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen has been named the TicketSmarter Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced on Monday, Oct. 2.Â
Reedtz posted a shutout in her first appearance of the year in goal, making five saves in the Mavericks' 0-0 draw against Denver. Mia's family flew in from Denmark to witness her first start and first clean sheet of the season from the seats at Caniglia.Â
"I'm proud of Mia for stepping in and playing a big role for us," head coach Tim Walters said. "The way she organized our team and managed the game was first class. This is another team award though for a group that battled for 90 minutes to keep a clean sheet."Â
It is the first weekly award of Mia's decorated career at Omaha. Reedtz was named the Summit League's goalkeeper of the year in 2020, along with being tabbed to the first team All-League and All-newcomer teams. Â
Reedtz is the fourth Maverick to garner a peak performer of the week award from the Summit League this season, and third in as many weeks. She becomes the second Omaha goalkeeper to earn the award after Emma Konsmo was named Defensive Peak Performer two weeks ago. Grace Crockett was named Defensive Peak Performer of the Week earlier this season, and Sophia Green was tabbed an Offensive Peak Performer last week.Â
Reedtz and the Mavericks return to Caniglia Field to face the Coyotes of South Dakota on Thursday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Omaha.Â
