Omaha, Neb.-- Midfielder Alyssa Kellar was named the TicketSmarter Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced on Wednesday, Oct. 25.
Kellar recorded three goals and two assists for eight points in the Mavericks' last two games of the regular season. On Sunday at St. Thomas, the redshirt sophomore recorded two goals and two assists for six points, tying Omaha's Division I era record for points in a single match. Kellar got on the stat sheet early with an assist on Green's eighth-minute goal. Just 10 minutes later, the native of Treynor, Iowa scored her second goal of the year. Kellar added her second assist in the 28th minute on Behrens' goal, and scored her second goal of the game in the 51st minute to seal the 4-0 victory over the Tommies. On Tuesday in the regular season finale at South Dakota State, Alyssa netted her third goal of the week and fourth on the season in the 61st minute to draw even with the Jackrabbits. The match would remain tied after Alyssa's game-tying tally as Omaha garnered a share of third place in the Summit League.
It is the first weekly award of Kellar's career after transferring to Omaha for the 2023 season. The sophomore transfer from Iowa currently ranks second on the team with four goals and 13 points over 16 starts this season, and she leads the Mavericks with five assists on the year.
Alyssa is the sixth Maverick to earn a peak performer of the week award from the Summit League this season. She joins Grace Ostergaard and Sophia Green, who were tabbed Offensive Peak Performers of the Week, as well as both Omaha goalkeepers, Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen and Emma Konsmo, and Grace Crockett, who were named Defensive Peak Performers of the Week earlier this season.
Kellar and the No. 4 seeded Mavericks travel to Denver, Colo., for the quarterfinal round of the 2023 Summit League Women's Soccer Championship against the No. 5 seeded South Dakota Coyotes. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT on Friday, Oct. 27, with the winner advancing to the semifinals on Sunday, Oct. 29 against No. 1 Denver.
