Mavericks to Open Three-Game Homestand vs. MACU

Following five-straight road games, the Mavericks open a three-game homestand this Wednesday when they host Mid-America Christian at 3 p.m.

Quick Hits
- The Mavericks went 1-2 at the Air Force Classic this past weekend, beating William & Mary 89-83 in the opener, before suffering back-to-back two-point losses to Lindenwood (72-70) and Air Force (58-56).
- Frankie Fidler earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after leading the Mavericks with 52 points (17.3 ppg) and 17 rebounds (5.7 rpg). He now has 90 points and 31 boards on the season.
- Nick Davis also had a solid tournament, finishing third in points (27) and second in rebounds (16).
- Tony Osburn had his best week of the season so far, logging 29 points and 16 boards. Along with Luke Jungers and JJ White, Osburn had his first double-digit scoring game of the season against William & Mary with 10.
- Grant Stubblefield made his first three starts of his career this week after previously coming off the bench in the first three games of the season. In his new role, he totaled 11 points and a team-high eight assists. He also became the first Maverick this year to get four assists in one game (vs. William & Mary).
- Once again, the Mavericks performed notably better in the second half than the first in each game of the tournament, being outscored 104-98 in the first half of all three games, but hold a 117-109 edge in the second half.
- Stubblefield, Marcel Bryant, Davis, and Biko Johnson are Omaha's top newcomers coming into this season.
- Stubblefield was named 6A Player of the Year and First Team All-State while at Blue Valley Northwest and Bryant was named the Austin Area Player of the Year at Cedar Ridge. Johnson is coming off his second season at Western Nebraska CC where he was named All-Conference and All-Nebraska, while Davis is fresh off winning GAC Defensive Player of the Year and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the Division II NCAA Tournament with Southern Nazarene.
- Fidler was Omaha's lone All-Summit honoree last season, earning an Honorable Mention. He led Omaha in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), steals (1.2 spg), and free throw percentage (.887), with his FT% in particular ranking in the NCAA's top-25 for most of the season.
- Head Coach Chris Crutchfield has a 21-34 overall record. It marks his third season as a head coach and second with the Mavericks.
Scouting the Mid-America Christian Evangels
The Evangels are off to a 3-1 start to their season. Two weeks ago, they played an exhibition against Oral Roberts and nearly upset the reigning Summit League champions, losing by just five points at 74-69.
Senior guard Eddie Smith is off to a blistering offensive start off the bench, shooting 26-for-51 (.510) and leading the team with 69 points and 17.3 ppg. He also 10 steals on the year, including four each against Ozark Christian and Randall. Forwards Manyang Magok and DeAngelo Adkins are tied for the team lead in rebounds with 29 apiece (7.3 rpg). Magok also has a double-double, having scored 12 and pulled down 10 boards in the season opener, while Adkins already has 13 steals, including six in their last game.
Head Coach Josh Gamblin is one of the most accomplished NAIA coaches in the country, winning the school's first ever National Championship in his first season back in 2016 and leading them to three runner-up finishes. Like Crutchfield, Gamblin is also a member of the Lon Kruger coaching tree.
