Phoenix, Ariz.-- The Omaha men's golf team completed the first two rounds of the GCU Invitational on Monday, Mar. 13.

The Mavericks shot a team score of 590 on day one, taking 13th place. After a 298 in the first round, Omaha responded with a 292 in the second to climb two spots on the team leaderboard. They sit just one stroke behind South Dakota State and California Baptist, which share 12th place with 589.

Mathew Halvorson led the Mavericks throughout the first day with a two-round total of 144. Halvorson shares 30th place overall after a 73 (+2) in round one and an even 71 in round two.

Kurtis Rodriguez and Josh Peters shot matching scores of 148 over two rounds. Rodriguez scored 74 (+3) in both rounds, while Peters scored a season-best 72 (+1) in round one and a 76 (+5) in round two.

Connor Wilson and Nolan Johnson totaled 150 and 156, respectively. Wilson and Johnson both shot a 79 (+8) in the first round. Wilson added an even 71 in the second round, and Johnson used an eagle on a par-5 hole 18 in the second round for a 77 (+6).
