
Mavericks Finish Rainy Day at MSU, Wilson Earns Eighth Place

Ozark, Mo.-- The Omaha men's golf team finished in tenth place after the final round of the Missouri State Intercollegiate on Tuesday, Mar. 21.
The Mavericks persevered through a rainy, cold and windy final round, scoring 306 as a team. After a score of 585 through two rounds, Omaha finished with a 54-hole total of 891, good for tenth place. They fell one stroke behind Belmont, which took ninth place with 890.
Connor Wilson scored 70 (-1) in the third round on Tuesday for his second par-or-better round of the tournament and eighth on the year. He eagled a par-5 hole No. 2 among 14 even holes in the final round. Wilson finished with a total score of 214, his best 54-hole score this season. Connor earned a share of eighth place on the leaderboard, his first top-10 finish of the 2022-23 campaign.
Nolan Johnson and Kurtis Rodriguez both finished with scores of 225, good for 38th place. Johnson bogeyed just one hole in the second round en route to his sixth par-or-better round of the season with a 70 (-1). Rodriguez scored a 76 (+5) in round two, and a 78 (+7) in round three.
Christopher Atkinson responded well after a tough first round. Atkinson scored a 76 (+5) in the second round and a 75 (+4) in the third for a two-day total of 243. Mathew Halvorson withdrew after the first round on Monday.
The Mavericks will have a week off before journeying to Silvis, Ill. for the Western Illinois Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Apr. 3-4.
