
Mavericks Head to Illinois for WIU Invitational

Silvis, Ill.-- The Maverick men's and women's golf teams journey to Western Illinois for the WIU Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Apr. 3-4.Â
FormatÂ
The WIU Invitational, hosted by Western Illinois, is a two-day, 54-hole event. The first two rounds will be played on Monday, with the final round on Tuesday. Both days begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.Â
FieldÂ
The men's field is made up of nine teams. The women's field contains six teams. Northern Iowa, North Dakota, Western Illinois and St. Ambrose are bringing both men's and women's teams. Chicago is sending only their women's team to Silvis, while South Dakota, St. Thomas, Wisconsin-Parkside and Detroit Mercy are exclusively fielding men's teams.Â
Men's LineupÂ
Seven Mavericks are in the lineup for the WIU Invitational. Carter Doose and Noah Hartman are golfing individually.Â
Mathew Halvorson enters this week after withdrawing from the MSU Intercollegiate due to an injury. Halvorson leads Omaha with a scoring average of 73.1 through 24 rounds.Â
Connor Wilson recorded his best three-round total of the season, scoring 214 over 54 holes. Wilson used an eagle to earn a 70 (-1) in round three and finish in eighth place overall.Â
Josh Peters returns to the lineup after missing last week. Peters has a scoring average of 76.5 through six rounds this spring season.Â
Kurtis Rodriguez and Nolan Johnson return to the lineup after recording matching scores of 225 at the MSU Intercollegiate. Â
Carter Doose and Noah Hartman are golfing individually for the WIU Invitational. Doose has played in 18 rounds this season, garnering a scoring average of 74.5. Hartman scored 226 at the Big O Classic and has a stroke average of 75.3 this year. Â
Women's LineupÂ
Seven Mavericks are in the lineup for the WIU Invitational. Emma Kirvan and Maddie Simon are golfing individually.Â
Nicole Hansen has the top spot in the lineup once again. Through 24 rounds this season, Hansen leads the Mavericks with a scoring average of 78.0.Â
Sydney Taake and Mika Miyata hold the second and third best scoring averages on the team, respectively. Taake is averaging 78.9, and Miyata is right behind Taake with an average of 79.1.Â
The two freshmen, Macarena Garcia and Emily Karmazin are averaging 79.5 strokes-per-round. Garcia has two par-or-better rounds this year, while Karmazin has three.Â
Emma Kirvan and Maddie Simon return to the lineup as individual golfers. Kirvan has a low round of 76 at the Lady Red Wolves Classic on Oct. 14. Simon holds a low round of 78, which she shot at the Payne-Stewart Invitational on Sept. 13.Â
