Cross Country Opens up 2023 Season with 5th Place Finish at Auggie Twilight Meet

The Omaha Cross Country squad opened up the 2023 season on a high note this evening finishing 5th overall at the Augustana Twilight Meet. The 5th place result marks the highest ever finish at the Augustana Twilight Meet in program history.
"I'm super excited about how we competed today. With a lot of new faces and roles to be defined, our team took some great chances and it showed," Omaha head coach Cliff Cisar said. Proud of the effort. Top finish for us as a team in our history of attending this meet. Can't wait to get back to work and prepare for Woody Greeno!"
The Mavericks five point grabbers all finished in the top 60. Four them came in under 19 minutes in the 5k race. Omaha was paced by Sophomore Kamryn Ensley who ran a 18:29.41 which was good for 17th overall. Following her was cross country newcomer, Lauren Metzger. Metzger ran to a 20th place finish with a time of
18:31.65. Coming in at 3rd for the Mavericks was Lior Kremer. Kremer finished 35th overall with a time of 18:47.37 in her Omaha debut. Katelyn Johnston was just behind Kremer in 38th place with a time of 18:51.75 and rounding out the top five was Maddie Yardley who ran a 19:15.49 good for 60th place.
Omaha will return home and prep for the Woody Greeno Invitational on September 16 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
