Women's Soccer Ranked Third in Conference Preseason Poll

Omaha earned 50 total votes, including one first place vote. Just ahead of the Mavericks are Denver with 61 votes (five first place) and South Dakota State with 59 votes (three first place). Last year, Omaha (3-1-4) finished the regular season tied for third place with Oral Roberts, though, the Mavericks entered the Summit League Tournament as the No. 4 seed due to the Golden Eagles owning the head-to-head tiebreaker. ORU ranks just behind Omaha in the polls with 43 total votes.
Zimmers is coming off her best season yet with the Mavericks, leading the defense to six shutouts while also scoring a goal and recording two assists. She was named First Team All-Region, Summit League Defensive Player of the Year, and earlier this week earned a spot on the United Soccer Coaches Division I Players to Watch List.
As for Ostergaard, the four-time All-Summit honoree earned First Team honors in 2023 after recording five assists and playing in all 19 games. She is currently tied for the program record with 78 consecutive starts having started every match of her career.
Omaha's 2024 campaign officially gets underway this Thursday at 6 p.m. when the Mavericks host SIUE at Caniglia Field.
