Women's Soccer Ranked Seventh in the Region

The United Soccer Coaches released its week two rankings of the top 10 teams in the West Region today and the Omaha women's soccer team was voted in at seventh place. The Mavericks are currently 2-0-2 to start their 2024 season.
After being ranked ninth last week, Omaha's 2-1 victory at Southern Utah followed by a 0-0 tie at Utah Tech was enough to crack the top 10. As a team, the Mavericks have so far outscored the opposition 5-2 and outshot them 37-34 (19-15 on goal).
Backed by a elite defense, the team has shutout two opponents already and has yet to allow more than one goal in a match. Led by Regan Zimmers and Grace Ostergaard, the Mavericks only allowed two shots on goal all night vs. Utah Tech.
Omaha will look to keep up their early momentum later this week as they head down to Lincoln to face intrastate rival Nebraska on Thursday at 7 p.m., before returning to Caniglia Field to take on Drake on Sunday at 6 p.m.
