SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - For the second week in a row, a Maverick has taken home Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week honors as Regan Zimmers earns to award for her part in leading Omaha to two more victories.
In a tough week that saw the Mavericks take on UC Santa Barbara on the road on Thursday before hosting the MVC's top team Northern Iowa on Sunday, Omaha came out on top in both contests due to its continued elite defense led by Zimmers. The sixth-year defender played all 180 minutes last week, helping the team to its fourth consecutive shutout on Thursday, before holding one of the nation's top scoring offenses to a single goal on Sunday.
Regan also contributed offensively, scoring the tying goal against the Panthers in the 76th minute, before adding an assist on the game winner from Alyssa Kellar in the 88th.
This is the first weekly conference honor of Zimmers' career.
