Mavericks seniors deliver stunning OT win over Denver

With only seven healthy players, Omaha erased 16-point deficit at home
OMAHA, Neb. - On Senior Day, a comeback win for the ages.
Despite playing with only seven healthy players and trailing by 16 points in the second quarter, Omaha rallied past Denver for an 80-77 overtime win at Baxter Arena. It came on Senior Day, and all five being honored in a pre-game ceremony were needed in a remarkable show of teamwork.
Senior Grace Cave nailed back-to-back three pointers in the closing seconds of regulation to tie the game 72-72 and send it to overtime, where fellow-senior Katie Keitges drained a key three as the Mavericks (11-15, 3-10) outscored the Pioneers (8-17, 1-11) eight to five in the extra frame en route to the win.
Despite being sick in bed the previous day, Cave played all 45:00 and finished with 25 points and eight assists, fellow senior Ja Harvey scored 23 while playing more than 42:00, Aaliyah Moore snagged a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Morgann Gardner (20:00) and Keitges (42:00) added five points each.
Harriet Ford, a freshman from Perth, Western Australia, was critical coming off the bench, producing her fourth double-double with 10 points and 19 rebounds. Those 19 rebounds are the most in a single game in Omaha's DI Era. Freshman Daria Shelby was the only other player able to suit up for the Mavericks, who have been riddled with winter illness and a rash of injuries in recent weeks.
Cave became the school's leader in the DI Era, pushing her career assist total to 322. She also has moved into second place in the Mavs DI Era in scoring with 1,228 points, which ranks 13th all-time.
Omaha has won two of the last three Summit League clashes heading to the final home game of the season Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Baxter Arena. Tickets for all Mavericks home games can be purchased online at OMavs.com/Tix or at the Baxter Arena box office.
Omaha closes out the regular season with games at North Dakota (February 27) and North Dakota State (March 1) before playing in the Summit League Championship tournament (March 9-12).
