The Mavericks fall to Bulldogs on Wednesday evening in Des Moines, Iowa.

OMAHA, Neb. – In a hard-fought midweek clash, Omaha women's soccer came up short in Des Moines on Wednesday night, falling 2-1 to Drake. The Mavericks move to 2-2-2 overall (0-0-0 Summit).

How It Happened

In the 22nd minute, Drake took a shot from the far-left corner, but Omaha goalkeeper Hayley Ogden (Lehi, Utah) made a save to keep the match scoreless.
Six minutes later, the Mavericks nearly broke through when graduate forward Payten Ivins (West Haven, Utah), fired just over the crossbar.
Drake's Lauren Kullberg put the Bulldogs ahead in the 40th minute, but Omaha answered two minutes later with an own goal forced by Lauren Schmidt's pressure on the Drake defense.
The teams entered halftime tied at 1, but just one minute into the second half Zoey Mahoney put Drake back on top, 2-1.
The Mavericks had 4 shots on goal, while Drake led with 5.

The Mavericks return to the pitch on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. CT in Norman, Oklahoma, to face No. 19 Oklahoma.
