Women’s Tennis Finishes Time at Marquette Invite
Oct 18, 2026 | Women's Tennis
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Omaha Women's Tennis wrapped up its time in Milwaukee after day three of the Marquette Invite.
Junior Katelynn Kock (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) secured a win in the first flight with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Northern Illinois' Garcia.
Three more Mavs earned singles wins to close out the tournament. Senior Khayli Buckels (Ballwin, Mo.) defeated Marquette's White, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (5). Junior Cat Rhegness (Ottawa Hills, Ohio) beat Milwaukee's Yamashita 6-2, 6-0. And sophomore Shelby Smith (Leawood, Kan.) beat NIU's Shlyakhta 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (7).
"Overall good experience for us here in Milwaukee," head coach Adam Summitt said. "I thought we competed really well in singles with some quality opponents. We played a lot of three-set matches that we learned a lot from. Doubles play was disappointing. We played well enough to win all the matches, but we constantly beat ourselves with silly errors. Good news is it's only the second tournament, and we have a long way to go to get better."
The Mavs will close out the fall season with a one-day home tournament at Koch Tennis Center on Saturday, Oct. 24.
