The Omaha men earned a 208-73 victory, while the women posted a 236-43 win. The Mavericks swept the meet, placing first in all 30 events.
In the pool there were many strong performances, starting with Mason Zadina (Omaha, Neb.) posting a personal-best time of 20.06 in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing just six-hundredths of a second shy of the program record.
Zach Rife (Colwich, Kan.) and Kyle Kulow (Sugar Land, Texas) turned in strong performances in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in 1:40.34 and 1:40.70, respectively.
On the women's side, Addisyn Storms (Omaha, Neb.) nearly added a record-setting performance of her own, finishing the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.02, just half a second off the school record.
Julia Thomas (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished the 100-yard butterfly in 56.34, while Kate Novinski (Grand Island, Neb.) posted a time of 56.04 in the 100-yard backstroke. Aubrey Hutter (Littleton, Colo.) added a time of 5:03.48 in the 500-yard freestyle.
On the boards, Owen Kipp (Eagan, Minn.), the reigning Summit League Championship MVP and Diver of the Year, made a statement in his return to H&K Pool. Kipp broke the program record on the 3-meter with a score of 375.75, earning an NCAA Zones qualifying mark. He also secured a Zones qualifying score on the 1-meter.
Will Mueller (Tempe, Ariz.) added another NCAA Zones qualifying performance for the Mavericks, recording a score of 314.48.
Brooke Robbins (Kansas City, Mo.) earned an NCAA Zones qualifying score for the first time in her career, posting a 269.70 on the 1-meter.
"That was about as good of a start to dual meets as we could have asked for," head coach Jessica Hessel said. "Hats off to Rockhurst. We always enjoy competing against them. They bring the heat every time, and I think both programs bring out the best in each other, which makes for some great racing and strong swims this early in the season.
"I'm especially proud of our returners for stepping up and helping coach our newcomers into the expectations and competitive culture we've worked hard to build. Seeing our athletes embrace that responsibility and compete for one another is something special. All-around great efforts from everyone. We're excited about where this group is headed and looking forward to continuing to build from here."
"I was pleased with how the group performed today," assistant diving coach Eric Sprague said. "I saw a team with great focus and effort throughout the week that allowed for some impressive performances. Congrats to Will and Owen, who each had personal-best scores on both boards, with Owen establishing a new program record for the men on 3-meter. And congratulations to Brooke, who not only won both boards, but secured her first-ever Zones qualifying score on 1-meter in the process. I've watched Brooke work incredibly hard to be in this position, and I'm happy to see it pay off for her.
"This was a good chance to see where we are at the beginning of the year and where we need to have a little extra focus. We have a couple of weeks before the next chance to compete, and I'm looking forward to watching them train to our standard."
