OMAHA — Omaha men's and women's swimming and diving looks to maintain early season momentum when they face a challenging foe at Missouri State Friday and Saturday in Springfield, Mo.
Matches are slated to begin at 4:00 pm CT on Friday and 10:00 am CT on Saturday at Hammons Student Center Pool.Â
The Mavericks are off to a 3-0 start after downing Summit League foe South Dakota State at H&K Pool two weeks ago. The women are 4-1 after taking three of four duals the last time out as well. Omaha efforts were highlighted that weekend as reigning Summit League Diver of the Year Owen Kipp and All-Summit League swimmer Addisyn Storms were named Peak Performers of the Week by the conference for the second time this season.
"We're looking forward to competing against a talented Missouri State team," head coach Jessica Hassel said. "We'll use this meet as an opportunity to raise the bar in both swimming and diving while fine-tuning our race strategies and mental approach as we prepare for our mid-season meet. It's another chance to challenge ourselves, sharpen the details, and continue building momentum heading into the next phase of our season."
In the most recent meeting between the two teams last year in Omaha, the men secured five first-place finishes and the women claimed seven. Freshman swimmer Jadeon Carter (Lincoln, Neb.) broke the school record in the mile in 16:04.52, and freshman Brady Wainionpaa (Hudson, Wis.) also set a school record in the 200 breast with a time of 1:59.55.
On the women's side, freshman Addisyn Storms (Omaha, Neb.) and sophomore Kate Novinski (Grand Island, Neb.) dominated their events, each earning three victories. Storms took first in the 100 and 200 breast, while Novinski secured the 100 and 200 back.
