WICHITA, Kan. — Omaha Baseball's offense came to life late as the Mavericks earned a doubleheader split at Wichita State on Saturday.
Wichita State won the opener 5-2 before the Mavericks pounded out 17 hits in rallying to a 15-8 win.

Omaha trailed 8-6 after six innings before scoring five times in the seventh, three more in the eighth and one in the ninth.

In the seventh, Omaha (4-6) had two on with two out before Tyler Bishop tied it with a two-run double into the right-field corner. Drew Borner followed with a go-ahead RBI single, and Cardel Dick then hit a two-run home run, his second homer of the game.

Jackson Trout delivered a two-run double in the eighth, and Edoardo Cornelli added an RBI single in the ninth.

Every Maverick starter had at least one hit in the second game as Bishop drove in four runs and Trout and Dick each had three RBI. Henry Zipay scored three runs.

Nate Moquin was sharp in relief as he pitched three scoreless innings to close out the win.

Wichita State (9-3) scored three times in the fifth inning on its way to winning the opener. Omaha had tied it 1-1 with a run in the fourth as Chase Diggins scored on a groundout by Hayden Lewis.

The Shockers grabbed a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Omaha's best threat after that came in the seventh. With the bases loaded and one out, Zipay singled home Borner to make it 4-2. But a strikeout and a flyout ended the rally.

Omaha is off until Tuesday afternoon, when the Mavericks will play Nebraska in Lincoln.
