Baseball closes out the Gopher Tournament

MINNEAPOLIS — Omaha Baseball (4-10) scored four runs in the second inning after falling behind early, but Minnesota (12-3) pulled away for a 6-4 win Sunday night at US Bank Stadium in the Mavericks' final game of the Gopher Tournament.
The Gophers opened the scoring before Omaha responded with a four-run second inning.
Chase Diggins tied the game with a sacrifice fly that brought home Drew Borner, and Henry Zipay followed with an RBI double to right field to score Hayden Lewis and give the Mavericks a 2-1 lead.
Jackson Trout led the Mavericks offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBI doubles. Through 13 games this season, Trout now has 11 RBIs.
Right-hander Sam Beck started on the mound for Omaha, allowing four runs on six hits with five strikeouts over 4.1 innings.
Nick Riggs, a left-hander followed with two-thirds of an inning and one strikeout, while right-hander Oliver Mabee worked one inning in relief. Right-hander Nate Moquin closed the game with two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
The Mavericks will open Summit League play March 13-15 with their first home series of the season against North Dakota State at Tal Anderson Field. First pitch for the series opener is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
