4 Mavericks Win at Dana Open
BLAIR, NEB. -- Mitch Waite led a group of four Mavericks into the winner's circle Saturday at the Dana Open as No. 1 ranked UNO opened the 2005 portion of its schedule. Waite won the 133-pound title and also was named the meet's outstanding wrestler.
The other three Mavs to capture titles were Eli Dominguez, 141; Shane Unger, 149, and heavyweight Les Sigman.
In all, the Mavericks had eight placewinners in the tournament. Dustin Tovar finished third at 125; Kris Thayer finished fourth at 141; Nick Edmonds was third and 174; Ben Strandberg fourth at 197, and Tony Lewis second at heavyweight.
The Mavs will host the Brand Open Saturday at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. The first matches will get started at 9 a.m.
