6 Mavs Earn No. 1 Seeds for Regional
Six Mavericks were seeded first in their weight classes for Sunday's NCAA Division II North Regional Wrestling Tournament at Lee & Helene Sapp Fieldhouse. The first matches begin at 10 a.m., with semifinals at noon and finals at 6 p.m.

Cody Garcia, 125; Dan Hilario, 133; Mitch Waite, 141; Patrick Allibone, 157; J.D. Naig, 174, and heavyweight Les Sigman were seeded first.
Garcia will meet unseeded Nick Wasche of St. Cloud State in his first match. Hilario's opponent will be Logan Hayman of Northern State; Waite meets Mark Burkart of Northern State; Allibone's first match is against Kyle Trout of MSU-Moorhead; Naig also will meet an MSU-Moorhead wrestler, George Toops.
Sigman drew a bye and will meet the winner of No. 5 Brian Black of Upper Iowa and Chris Tuchscherer of MSU-Moorhead.
Shane Unger was seeded second at 149 and will open with unseeded Tom Messerli of St. Cloud State. At 165, Ross Taplin is No. 2 and will wrestle unseeded Grang Frank of Southwest Minnesota State first. Nate Oviatt is No. 3 at 184 and meets No. 6 seeded Bryan Cowdin of Minnesota State-Moorhead in his first match. Nick Edmonds is No. 6 at 197 and will oppose No. 3 seeded Ben Janike of Minnesota State, Mankato.
The top four finishers in each of the 10 weight classes will advance to the March 10-11 NCAA II tournament in Findlay, Ohio.
