Volleyball Secures 3-1 Win Over Drake

DES MOINES, Iowa – Omaha Volleyball secured a 3-1 win over Drake on Tuesday night.

The Mavericks (6-3) won the first set 25-20 over the Bulldogs (5-4) who took the second set 25-22. Omaha won the third set 27-25 and the fourth set 25-19 to seal the match and the win.

It was a whole-team effort for the Mavericks, with multiple players contributing to the box score. Five starters secured 10 or more kills, four served at least one ace and seven of the 10 players who spent time on the court recorded a dig.

Sophomore outside hitter Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.) and graduate outside hitter Madi Corf (Kansas City, Mo.) had 13 kills apiece. Sophomore outside hitter Lara Marić (Brisbane, Australia) and freshman middle blocker Dara Obeid (Burlington, Ontario, Canada) recorded 12 each while junior outside hitter Alizabeth Jacobson (Neola, Iowa) had 10.

Venable, Marić and Obeid each had three aces and Corf recorded one.

Marić and Jacobson both assisted on four blocks as well. Venable and Obeid each finished the match with an assisted block as well, while Obeid took home the lone solo block of the evening.

The Mavericks have one final nonconference match of the season. Undefeated Kansas State will make the trip to Baxter Arena on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 3 p.m. CT.

Saturday will be Girls and Women in Sports Day in Baxter Arena as a part of the #402ForHer campaign that is designed to celebrate the amazing women that have built a strong tradition of women's sports in Omaha.

Students will receive a free Omaha-themed pickleball paddle in the student section.
