5 Mavs Honored by D2Football.com
Senior offensive lineman Ben Hochstein was selected to his fourth All-America team and four of his Maverick teammates were also honored as D2Football.com released its 2007 All-America teams and final rankings.
The Mavericks, 10-1, were rated No. 7 in the final poll released late Thursday (Jan. 17) night. UNO won its first 10 games, capturing its fourth straight North Central Conference title, before falling in the second round of the NCAA II playoffs.
Hochstein was the only Mav selected to the first team. Senior safety Randy Kush was named to the second team as a defensive back, while tailback Brian McNeill, linebacker Jeff Souder and defensive lineman Rob Lewis all earned honorable mention.
Hochstein, from Hartington, Neb., was also selected to the first-teams of Daktronics, Associated Press and the American Football Coaches Association.
Kush, from Gretna, Neb., was named to the AP Little All-America first team and was a second-team Daktronics selection.
