Mavs Add 2 Transfers on Defense
UNO head coach Pat Behrns announced Friday that Michael Perez and Paul Clark, both from California junior colleges, have accepted scholarship offers and will attend school next fall and play for the Mavericks.
Perez, a native of Montebello, Calif., is a defensive tackle from Fullerton College. Clark, from West Covina, Calif., is a safety who led his Citrus College team in tackles.
Perez, 6-5, 307, is also a long snapper and was a football and basketball standout at Saint John Bosco High School in Bellflower, Calif. He earned all-conference honors as a junior and a senior.
Clark, 6-1, 205, earned first-team all-conference honors on offense and defense at Covina High School and also was an all-league basketball player. He recorded 38 solo tackles and 30 assists to lead Citrus College, in Glendora, Calif., in 2007. He also intercepted two passes and had five break-ups and was named the team's outstanding defensive player.
