Kottas, Sigman and Madison Capture Titles at Grand

DES MOINES, Iowa – University of Nebraska at Omaha wrestlers #Tyler Kottas#, #Nathan Sigman# and #Elijah Madison# each captured titles at the Grand View Open on Saturday.
Wrestling unattached at 149 pounds, Kottas finished with a 4-0 record, scoring an 8-4 decision against Nebraska’s Ross Grande in the title bout.
At 157 pounds, Sigman, wrestling unattached, also finished with a 4-0 record, earning a 4-1 decision in the finals against Kendall Burke from Dana College.
Madison, wrestling unattached at 285 pounds, recorded a mark of 4-0 in the tournament, edging Jordan Johnson, 8-6 in the championship bout.
#Matt Baker# who claimed a third place finish, wrestling unattached at 184 pounds, finished the open with a record of 5-1.
Other Maverick wrestlers to place in the tournament include #Taylor Escamilla# who tallied a 4-2 record and finished in fourth place at 285. #Ryan Pankoke# and #Blake Long# each took sixth place finishes. Pankoke, finished with a 3-3 record at 165, while Long, wrestling unattached at 197 pounds, finished 1-3.
The Mavericks return to action this week with road duals scheduled against two former North Central Conference foes, Feb. 5-6. UNO will battle No. 14 Augustana on Thursday, Feb. 5, before taking on No. 3 Minnesota State, Mankato .
