Curtis, Mavs Stay on a Roll, Top Rollins

LAS VEGAS, NEV. -- Ryan Curtis scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds Sunday to lead No. 14 UNO to a 76-58 win over No. 9 Rollins in the High Desert Classic. The win was the eighth straight by the Mavericks, who are now 11-1 heading into the holiday break.
Curtis connected on eight of his nine shots from the field. Andre Tarpley contributed 15 points and three rebounds and Calvin Kapels 10 points and five rebounds.
The Mavericks and the Tars, an Elite Eight team last season, battled on even terms the first 10 minutes before UNO put on a run and pulled away. UNO led 36-27 at halftime and never let the Tars get closer than eight after intermission.
UNO shot 57 percent from the field the second half and 52 percent for the game while outrebounding the Tars 39-28.
The Mavs are next in action Dec. 28-29 when they play in the South Dakota State Classic in Brookings.
