Come-From-Behind Goals Lift Mavs Over Truman

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- A pair of early second half goals lifted the Mavs over Truman, 2-1, Sunday as they improved to 3-1-0. UNO, ranked 22nd in the nation, has now won three straight one-goal games since dropping its season opener and is undefeated, 6-0-1, all-time at the Truman Soccer Complex.
After falling behind 1-0 at the half, the Mavs gained the lead for good in the opening minutes of the second half. Junior Beth McGill scored her second goal of the year 57 seconds into the half when she headed in a kick from Amber Richardson. Exactly nine minutes later sophomore Brandie Beale knotched her second straight game-winner, unassisted right in front of the goal.
Beale now leads the team with six points and has scored in three of the four UNO games. UNO out shot TSU 17-6 and put 12 shots on goal. Maverick senior Amy Price earned the win in goal while stopping three of the four Bulldog shots on goal.
The victory improved the Mavericks to 8-2-0 all-time against the Bulldogs and 4-0-0 while them playing in Kirksville.
The Mavs will play their first home and North Central Conference game next Friday as they host Augustana at 4 p.m. at the Soccer Field at Ak-Sar-Ben.
