Christensen Leads UNO To Win in NCC Opener

Grand Forks, N.D. -- Sophomore middle blocker Carlie Christensen hit for a career-high .733 with 12 kills, only one error, in 15 attempts as the University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team swept North Dakota 30-28, 30-22, 30-28 Friday night in the Mavericks' North Central Conference opener at the Betty Englestad Sioux Center. Christensen also added a match-high four blocks in the victory.
The Mavericks, who won their fourth-straight match, improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the NCC.
Junior outside hitter Christina Reicks recorded her fifth-straight match with double-figure kills collecting 11. Reicks also added nine digs and three blocks.
Senior setter Christie Johnson directed the Maverick attack with 46 assists, four digs, and three kills.
The Mavericks outhit North Dakota .289 to .237 and held a 10 to 8 advantage in total blocks.
Nebraska-Omaha will continue NCC road action as they travel to St. Cloud, Minn. for a 4 p.m. match with St. Cloud State on Saturday, Sept. 24.
