Mavs Set For Showdown at Truman Tournament

After starting the opening weekend at 1-1-0 and then taking a week off, the 22nd-ranked Mavericks will head to Kirksville, Mo., to play Central Missouri State Saturday at 2 p.m. and host school Truman Sunday at 1 p.m. This will be the seventh straight time that UNO has met the two Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association teams in a regular season tournament.
The Mavericks, 1-1-0, will be facing 3-0-0 CMSU and 1-3-0 Truman, a team that hosted the NCAA Central Region tournament last year and was ranked 10th in the preseason poll. The Mavs are a perfect 6-0-0 against the Jennies overall and are 7-2-0 against the Bulldogs. While Central is out scoring its opponents 16-2 this year, the Bulldogs have had trouble finding the back of the net, suffering shutouts in its three losses and scoring just one goal in four games.
The Mavs, TSU and five other preseason top-10 teams have suffered losses or ties in the first two weeks of the year. UNO's came at the hands of a 3-2 loss at Central Oklahoma. The Maverick win came against Midwestern State with a 1-0 victory.
