UNO Sweeps Augustana, Wins 5th Straight

OMAHA, Neb. - Ellen Thommes and Nicole McLeod combined for 30 kills to lead the 17th-ranked UNO Mavericks to a 3-0 (30-21, 30-27, 30-28) win over Augustana in North Central Conference volleyball action Tuesday night at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
With the win, the Mavericks moved into a tie for second place in the conference standings with Augustana. UNO improved to 20-6 overall and 7-4 in the NCC. Augustana fell to 13-13 and 7-4.
Thommes tied her career high with 16 kills while hitting .414 and adding one block. McLeod hit a scorching .520 with 14 kills, only one error, in 25 attempts.
Katie Agnew directed the UNO offense to a .276 hitting percentage, while adding 50 assists and four digs.
The Vikings, who hit .128 in the match, were led by Andrea Oswald who recorded 10 kills and four blocks in the loss. However, Oswald committed 10 hitting errors and hit .000 for the match.
The Mavericks were led defensively by Stacie Wemhoff who notches a match-high 25 digs and Christina Reicks who chipped in 16 digs as UNO held a 63 to 49 advantage in that category.
The Mavericks will close out the regular season when they host St. Cloud State on Saturday, Nov. 4, beginning at 4 p.m. in the Sapp Fieldhouse.
