Mavs Battle for NCC Title This Weekend

The Mavericks conclude their fall schedule this weekend when they compete in the North Central Conference tournament in Sioux Falls, S.D. The 54-hole event will be played on three different courses: Elmwood Golf Course, Westward Ho Country Club and Minnehaha Country Club. The Mavericks will tee off from 10:40-11:10 a.m. the first day.
Five players will compete, with the best four scores each day counting toward the team total. North Dakota is the defending team champion. UNO finished third last year. Teams entered include UNO, South Dakota, St. Cloud State, Minnesota State, North Dakota and Augustana.
The Lineup
The Mavericks' five-player lineup will include juniors Lindsay Newton, Lynn Mulligan, Kate O'Dea, Sara Wolfe and freshman Erin Ommen. Mulligan's 79.3 scoring average leads the team, with Newton close at 79.9. Wolfe is averaging 83.8, O'Dea 84.1 and Ommen 84.8.

UNO won its first tournament of the season, posting a season-best 307 the second round to edge Truman State by three strokes for the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational title in Lincoln. Lindsay Newton and Lynn Mulligan tied for second in the meet, five shots back of Truman State's Julie Williams. Newton and Mulligan each finished at 155.
