OMAHA, Neb. -- The University of Nebraska-Omaha men opened their annual Thanksgiving Classic with a bang, scoring a decisive 93-67 win over Chadron State Friday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Senior guard Zac Robinson led the Mavericks (2-2) in scoring for the second straight game with 24 points. He went 8-for-13 shooting on the night, including four 3-pointers on seven tries, plus 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Three other UNO players reached double figures, as Jeremy Williams scored 13, and Michael Jenkins and Andrew Bridger each chipped in 11. Denny Johnston was the leading rebounder with 10, including four on the offensive end.
The Eagles (0-4) started strong, taking an 11-4 advantage to start the game. From there, however, the Mavs took control, breaking off a 25-7 run over the next 10 and a half minutes, with eight different players scoring in that stretch. UNO took a 45-32 lead into halftime.
The dominance continued in the second half as UNO immediately added to its lead, and led by as many as 29 points.
Marcus Ligons led Chadron State with 18 points and nine rebounds.
The Mavericks face Quincy Saturday at 8 p.m. The Hawks defeated South Dakota earlier Friday night, 89-79, improving to 4-0 on the year.
