Mavs Get Hot in Second Half, Win Shootout, 95-85

Twenty-eight shots fell from 3-point range as the University of Nebraska-Omaha men's basketball team defeated Peru State in a shootout, 95-85, Tuesday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Senior Zac Robinson broke his career high in scoring for the second time this season with 29 points, hitting seven 3-pointers. He also led the team in rebounding for the first time on the year with seven.
The Mavericks (3-3) trailed 48-44 at the half, but saw themselves trailing the Bobcats (2-7) by as much as 11 with 5:15 remaining. Peru State shot the lights out in the first 20 minutes, going 17-for-27 overall for 63 percent, including 10-of-14 from beyond the arc. They opened the game with a 9-2 run. UNO, meanwhile, shot a respectable 53.6 percent (15-for-28), including 4-of-7 from 3-point land.
After the intermission the teams traded baskets back and forth for the first eight-plus minutes. Andrew Bridger's 3-pointer with 11:45 left tied the game for the first time. Bridger then assisted on a layup by Jerry Bennett to give UNO its first lead and extended it with another triple. Bridger finished the game with 13 points and six assists, but left the game moments later after an apparent head injury. He suffered a concussion in last Friday's game with Chadron State.
Bennett finished with 14 points, with Michael Jenkins adding 13. Crif Scheideler led the Bobcats with 24 points, with Joe Mews adding 21.
The Mavericks hit the road this weekend, playing in the Chuck Stevens Memorial Classic, hosted by Colorado State-Pueblo. UNO faces Regis Friday night, then the hosts on Saturday.
