Robinson Moves Into 2nd Place as Mavs Win, 80-68

Zac Robinson moved into second place all-time on the University of Nebraska-Omaha 3-point list, while helping the Mavericks extended their win streak to four games with an 80-68 victory over York College Tuesday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Robinson knocked down four 3-pointers on eight attempts, upping his season total to 35, and career total to 187, surpassing Dan Morrow for second place in team history for career threes. He is now 43 behind Mike Simons, who hit 230 3-pointers in his UNO career, spanning 1996-2000.
The first half was a tightly-contested battle, with neither team holding more than a four-point advantage. The Mavericks shot an even 50 percent, while the Panthers hit 42 percent of their field-goal attempts.
UNO (6-3) took a 38-37 lead into the intermission on Robinson's third 3-pointer of the game, which tied him with Morrow.
The game remained tight for the first eight minutes of the second half, but consecutive 3-pointers by Denny Johnston sparked a 15-0 run over the next two and a half minutes that put the Mavericks firmly in control. The run extended to 20-1, giving UNO a commanding 19-point lead with seven minutes remaining.
Four Mavericks scored in double figures, led by Robinson with 20. Johnston finished with 14, with Michael Jenkins adding 12, and Jerry Bennett scoring 11. Bennett was the leading rebounder with nine boards, five on the offensive side.
Malcohm Heron led York (2-10) with 23 points.
The Mavericks are back in action Wednesday night, traveling to Emporia, Kan. to face Emporia State. The game will be broadcast on KOZN AM 1620.
