Mavericks Drop to 8th After Second Round

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Battling tough weather conditions, the University of Nebraska at Omaha women's golf team dropped to eighth place after the second round of the NCAA II Women's Golf Championship. The tournament, which has been plagued by cold temperatures, rain, and high winds has been shortened to 54 holes after Thursday's round was washed out.
UNO will tee off at 9:00 a.m. CDT Saturday in the third and final round at the par-72 The Meadows Golf Course.
Two-time defending national champion Rollins holds a 14-shot lead over Ferris State with a 611 team total. UNO shot 336 as a team and stands at 660 for the tournament, 84-over par.
Sophomore Lindsay Newton turned in the team's top round with a six-over 78. Newton is currently tied for 21st at 161. Florida Southern's Lindsey Burgeon and Rollins' Mariana De Biase are tied for first at four-over par, 148.
Senior Amanda Stock, who started the day tied for ninth place, shot an 85 and dropped into a tie for 18th at 160.
The other UNO scores Friday included an 86 by Amanda Houtz, an 87 by Lynn Mulligan, and an 88 by Carly Froehlich. Houtz is at 171, Mulligan 168 and Froehlich 174 for the tournament.
