Mavs Picked to Repeat in NCC Soccer

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Defending NCAA Division II national champion Nebraska-Omaha has been picked by league coaches to repeat as North Central Conference soccer champions in the NCC Coaches Poll released today.
Nebraska-Omaha garnered six first-place votes with Minnesota State
gaining the remaining top vote.
The Mavericks return eight starters and 15 letterwinners from last season's 20-2 squad that won the NCC regular-season title for the fifth time in the last six seasons.
Nebraska-Omaha, Minnesota State, North Dakota and South Dakota advanced
to the NCAA Division II Soccer Tournament to make the regional an all NCC
affair.
UNO swept through NCAA play with wins over North Dakota, Minnesota
State, Grand Valley State and Franklin Pierce before winning the NCAA
Division II crown with a thrilling 2-1 overtime win over Seattle
Pacific. UNO outscored its opponents a combined 15-2 in the playoffs.
Teams begin play on the weekend of August 24 with NCC play commencing
September 15. The league will be in the second year of the double-round
robin conference format.
